POSTPONED
| "Due to unanticipated
delays in restoration construction, the relighting and rededication
ceremony of the Avery Point Lighthouse, scheduled for September 24, 2005,
has been postponed until the restoration work and the dedication walkway
projects are 100% complete. The Avery Point Lighthouse Society (APLS)
regrets any inconvenience which may have been caused by this postponement;
however, APLS feels that the thousands of individuals who have contributed
to the project deserve to have the lighthouse and walkway work completed
prior to any ceremony being conducted. Appropriate announcements
will be made when a future date is set for the ceremony." Although APLS and NELL will not be participating in the UConn Festival By the Sound weekend, you may still visit the memorial walkway to the lighthouse when you are on campus for the Project "O" tour out to New London Ledge Light. |
