The Avery Point Memorial Walkway is Growing
photos by Ron Foster

Monday, July 18th, was the fourth day of actually setting the bricks in the walkway at Avery Point and the halfway point has been reached.  The day started and ended with a heavy fog cover.  The fog was so thick that we could not even see the water less than fifty feet away and yet the ships blowing their horns and whistles seemed to be on top of you.  At times we feared a collision was about to take place due to the many horns blowing at the same time.

The lack of visibility and the almost-rain dampness of the fog did not dampen the spirits of the Burnett’s Landscaping crew and volunteers who showed up to continue setting the bricks into the walkway.  Ron Drummer from Seymour, CT was the first to arrive, as he had everyday since the project began, and he took charge of setting up the work area and planning which pallet of bricks went where.
